US retailer Sears Holding (Hoffman Estates, Illinois / USA; www.searsholdings.com), owner of the Kmart and Sears brands, has begun to reduce and phase out the use of PVC in its packaging and merchandise. The company says it has adopted a policy of identifying more sustainable choices, “given the potential health and environmental risks tied to the manufacture, use and disposal of PVC.”
